Our Mission
We believe that everyone should be treated equally especially for people with disabilities. Our goal is to educate, advocate and fundraise to teach the youth about learning the importance of equality for all people with disabilities
Our Story
Back in 2022, a man named Caleb Preston had an idea and a vision to help bring awareness to high school students so that they would understand and be supportive rather than bullying them and not being supportive. So, on December 7th, 2022, the idea of the club was formed but was not started until March of 2023.
For the first project for the club, Caleb wanted to do Autism Awareness Month to teach people what autism is. During Autism Awareness Month (April), Caleb and one of his friends started fundraising during the month and raised over $200, which was later given to My Autism Tribe.
In April of 2023, Caleb and the rest of the club members tried to think of a good name for the club until the Former Vice President, thought of the name Spectrum of Light or SOL for short. In May of 2023, the club was official. During Caleb's junior year, the club made the logo of the club, which is a sun with different color flares that represent each disability.
The next project that the club had was to start something entertaining for the community at HCHS. They thought of the idea of making a video game tournament, and after some time, the club agreed to do Mario Kart as their tourney for the school. In April of 2024, the first Mario Kart Tournament was set and raised over $113, and it was a huge success. The next school year, Spectrum of Light did two more tourneys and one fundraiser for Autism Awareness Month. All together Spectrum of Light has raised over $1500 dollars, and we continue to grow to this day.
In May of 2025, Caleb Preston graduated high school. He became a mentor for the club and now wants to build more chapters outside of his school and create the international for Spectrum of Light which is its own non profit.
